Hand & Wrist Pain

The hands are your only connection to the club. Pain here not only hurts, it destroys your feel and control.

Why It Happens

Hand and wrist injuries are incredibly common in golf, often stemming from the violent deceleration when the club hits the ground (or a root) or simply from the repetitive stress of gripping and hinging.

  • Impact Trauma: "Fat" shots or hitting hidden objects causes sudden shock to the wrist structures (like the TFCC or Hamate bone).
  • Grip Issues: Gripping the club too tightly restricts movement and overloads forearm muscles.
  • Overuse: Hitting ball after ball off firm mats can lead to tendonitis and stress fractures.
  • Swing Mechanics: excessive "scooping" or "casting" puts the wrist in vulnerable positions at high speeds.

Common Conditions

Tendonitis

Inflammation of the tendons, often on the thumb side (De Quervain’s) or wrist flexors.

TFCC Tears

Pain on the pinky side of the wrist, common from "fat" shots and heavy impact.

Hook of Hamate

A fracture in the small palm bone, often caused by the club butt jamming into the hand.

How We Fix It

Rest alone rarely fixes the root cause. We look at how you are delivering the club.

  • Clinical Diagnosis: We screen for structural damage versus soft tissue overload.
  • Grip & Equipment Check: Is your grip size correct? Are you holding it in the fingers or palm?
  • Swing Analysis: We use high-speed video to see if you are "casting" or scooping, which stress the wrists.
  • Strength & Rehab: targeted forearm and grip strengthening to build resilience.
