Lower Back Pain

The most common injury in golf. It affects over 30% of all golfers. But it doesn't have to end your playing days.

Why Functional Backs Fail

The golf swing creates massive compressive and shear forces on the lumbar spine (up to 8x body weight). If your hips or mid-back are stiff, your lower back—which is designed for stability, not rotation—is forced to twist. That’s a recipe for disaster.

The Culprits

Reverse Spine Angle

Leaning backward towards the target at the top of the swing puts maximum crunch on the lower back.

Early Extension

Thrusting hips towards the ball eliminates space and jams the facet joints of the spine.

S-Posture

Too much arch in the lower back at setup (sticking your bum out) deactivates the core.

Protect Your Spine

A healthy back requires a collaborative approach between your gym work and your swing coach.

  • Hip Mobility: If your hips turn freely, your back won't have to. We test and improve internal/external rotation.
  • Anti-Rotation Core Strength: Planks and pallof presses teach your spine to resist shear forces.
  • Neutral Setup: We help you find a neutral pelvic position at address to engage your glutes and abs.
